The alarm went off at 1:30am. There’s not many times that I’m happy to hear an alarm at 1:30am, but, today was one of them. Today was FINALLY travel-to-Bonaire-for-two-weeks day! We left the house at 2:40amish, enroute to Newark Liberty International Airport to catch our 8:30am flight direct to Bonaire. When we left the house, it was 39° and pouring rain. But really, who cares?! We’re going back to BONAIRE! An extremely sketchy McDonald’s in a not-so-great section of town and a pretty straight forward trip through airport security (except for Josh’s carry on bag, that got pulled for “further inspection”) later and we were ready to take off!

Our Plane landed in Bonaire around 2:30pm, local time, which is an hour ahead of our home time. And, we were greeted at the airport by a hotel staff member handing out cold beer. I must admit, a free, cold beer at the airport after a flight was the best welcome present we could have asked for!

We spent the rest of the day checking in, getting our rental car and having some cocktails before finally eating dinner around 8pm. We would have loved to hung out with everyone but, instead, opted for heading back to the room, tired from the travel day. We spent some time decompressing before falling asleep, completely at peace being in Bonaire again.
